The job of a domestic or caretaker couple covers a multitude of tasks and responsibilities.
We will teach you how to develop your skills, manage your working time, plan your daily tasks and priorities but also how to work as a couple and how to react to different unexpected events.
We will allow you to create a community to share your experiences and exchange with other students on the course and with former students. Throughout your learning process, we will also provide you with all the necessary materials.
In order for the quality of your work to be recognised and appreciated in your future career, we will teach you the most appropriate gestures to acquire the know-how and interpersonal skills required for the job of caretaker/domestic couple, also called concierge couple.

Couple Training Course Description

Our training method is based on experience, interactivity, sharing and conviviality.
The Morgan Mallet School Domestic Couple Training is a study programme designed to help couples learn to effectively manage their future life as a caretaker couple within a prestigious property. It is a comprehensive programme that covers many aspects of managing a property, castle, villa, chalet, mansion or large luxury flat.
The training of domestic couples begins with an assessment of the couple’s current situation with our training officer. This includes an assessment of the couple’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as their communication and problem-solving skills.
During this assessment, the couple and the trainer will also discuss their goals and motivations. This is an important step in the process as it allows the couple and our trainers to identify areas of skill that need to be developed and to create a suitable training plan.
The next step in the caretaker/domestic couple’s training process is to create the application form (training agreement) and funding for the training.
The training officer will accompany you in this step. See details below.
The third step of the process is the course of the training. This consists of helping and accompanying the future domestic couple to develop skills during the 12 and a half days with two Morgan Mallet School trainers. See programme below.
Finally, the training process of the domestic couple ends with a review of the couple’s progress. During this phase, the couple and the trainers will exchange successes and achievements since the beginning of the training.

Course and content of the training

  • 12 days over 3 consecutive weeks
  • Arrival on Monday
  • Training from Tuesday to Saturday
  • Sunday off
  • Training from Monday to Friday
  • Weekend off
  • Training from Monday to Tuesday
  • Students leave on Wednesday

Students are housed in the villa for the duration of the training

1/2 day of preparation for a recruitment interview/presentation of the positions to be filled (8 days after the training) 100 hours of training in total

  1. Training module: Internal interview
  2. Training module: linen management
  3. Training module: outdoor maintenance – garden
  4. Training module: pool maintenance and management
  5. Training module: Household staff skills and know-how
  6. Training module: cooking, meal preparation and food shopping
  7. Training module: master driver, real-life driving with a 4×4 Mercedes GLC 300 DE SUV
  8. Training module: property security and guarding
  9. Training module: communication techniques with the employer
  10. Regular MCQ tests
  11. Regular exercises and role plays during the training
  12. Organisation of an informal lunch situation (service and table setting)
  13. Organisation of a formal dinner in a situation (service and table setting)
  14. Diploma ceremony and photo session

Pre-requisites for the training

The following are the prerequisites for participating in the Domestic Couple course:

  • Be of legal age
  • Training dedicated to couples only
  • No criminal record
  • Motivated and enthusiastic people
  • Discretion, loyalty, honesty
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Adaptability, availability, flexibility 
  • Attention to detail, meticulous 
  • Sense of service and duty
  • Interest in cooking
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment 
  • Driving licence held by at least 1 person

The application and validation of your application for training will be carried out through the following stages:

  • Preliminary interview with our training officer – 20 minutes
  • Interview with the trainers – 15 minutes
  • Two complete profile presentations
  • Criminal records less than three months old
  • Two documents of identification

After the interview and receipt of your application, our teams will confirm your enrolment in our training course and will propose several session dates to schedule your participation.

Financial condition

You can pay for the entire course by bank transfer only, our team will send you our bank details. Immediate payment before the course is required (30% deposit at the time of booking and 70% of the total payment one week before the course starts).

Rate

​The rate include :

  • 12 days of face-to-face training from 9am to 5pm from Tuesday to Saturday the first week and from Monday to Friday the second week and two days the third week
  • 1/2 day of training on writing a quality profile and a job interview simulation/coaching session with a Morgan & Mallet International recruitment officer to prepare you for your future applications and job searches 
  • Maximum of 8 students per training session
  • Two trainers at your disposal
  • A training officer to help you put together your training file (financing, training agreement, delivery of training certificate, diploma, post-training follow-up, etc.)
  • Free accommodation at Villa Noumade during the course (private room + bathroom) – sheets and towels included (for people living in the Bordeaux area, accommodation on site is not compulsory)
  • Food offered (breakfast and lunch only during the course, on Sunday (day of rest) all meals are at your expense) – please indicate if you have any food intolerances before your arrival 
  • A welcome drink (petit fours and soft drinks) with all students and trainers on arrival.
  • Two free Morgan Mallet School uniforms (a measurement request will be made before the training session)
  • Delivery of the training booklet with the complete training programme (courses, exercises, MCQs, results of checks and tests).
  • The Morgan Mallet School diploma and certificate.
  • Free airport or train station transfer for your arrival and departure from Bordeaux if needed.
  • One car or motorbike parking space inside (secure parking).
  • Several activity proposals for Sunday, the day of rest
  • A follow-up of your post-training professional career with the training officer Mrs Brisson and the use of the “Morgan Mallet Approved Label” logo for your future CV 
The fee for the Guardian Couple course is € 2,495 per person, excluding VAT. Please note that this is a couple course only.
The job market for caretaker couples
The job market for caretaker couples is doing very well because there is a very high demand in Europe.

Salary and conditions in 2023 (Morgan & Mallet International statistics)

  • 6,000.00 euros net per month at the end of the career for the couple (full-time) + company accommodation offered + some employers provide a company car
  • There may be some benefits for the larger companies: 13th month, various bonuses, performance bonus, food included, health insurance 
  • 90% permanent position for registered vacancies

Domestic and Caretaker couple job description

Caretaker/domestic couples, also known as domestic couples, are two people who are employed to provide a wide range of services to wealthy families.
Domestic couples usually live-in a housekeeping unit and are responsible for the day-to-day management of the property. Caretaker/domestic couples usually share the management tasks of a house, such as cleaning, cooking, shopping and overall maintenance.
Caretaker couple are valuable and essential in prestige properties as they provide a unique combination of services that may be difficult to find in one person. Custodial pairs are usually both experienced in housekeeping and can provide the skills necessary to keep a household running smoothly.

The duties and responsibilities of a caretaker/domestic couple may vary depending on the needs of the family employing them, but they usually include a variety of tasks. They must be flexible.
